Registered manual osteopaths (RMOs) who also provide other treatments such as massage therapy, chiropractic, physiotherapy, naturopathy and athletic therapy should not bill extended health plan insurers in Canada more than one type of treatment per day.

Canadian private health insurers generally frown upon health professionals who bill EHP insurers more than one type of treatment per day.

For example, if an RMO is also an RMT (registered massage therapist), it is suggested that one day the RMT/RMO provide manual osteopathic care and bill insurer for osteopathy for that day, and another day the RMT/RMO provide massage therapy and bill insurer for massage therapy (if the client needs both services).
