Dr Andrew T. Still, founder of osteopathy was fluent in written & spoken Shawnee tribes language. He has drawings found in the Museum of Osteopathic Medicine showing anatomical drawings with English and Shawnee language words written on it. This is not surprising as he has Indigenous blood through his grandfather (on the father side). He also lived for 20 years in the Shawnee tribes reservation land.
